- Centella Asiatica (or tiger grass) has been used in Ayurvedic medicine (India) and traditional Chinese medicine (under the name Ji Xue Cao) for thousands of years to treat numerous diseases and skin conditions. It has many applications in cosmetics, as its active components possess antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and healing properties, and they are used in the treatment of wounds, stretch marks, itching, and skin burns.
Unlike many astringent acne treatments on the market, Centella Asiatica is rather a gentle antibacterial against pimples! One of its active compounds, madecassoside, not only reduces acne inflammation but also helps stop scar formation.
Centella Asiatica is an excellent ingredient for oily or acne-prone skin because it can provide the hydration level you need. Essentially, it hydrates the skin without making it oily. It is also known for lightening pigmentation and increasing collagen production.
- Dandelion, also known as Lion's Tooth or Pu gong ying in Chinese, is a plant utilized in Chinese medicine to cleanse the entire body. It effectively helps eliminate accumulated toxins in the body. In cosmetics, this plant is also appreciated as a natural reparative treatment for damaged and weakened skin. - Bakuchiol is a 100% natural active ingredient extracted from babchi, a plant widely used in Ayurveda—traditional Indian medicine—as well as in traditional Chinese medicine. This active ingredient also has the ability to rebalance the fatty acid composition of sebum in acne-prone skin, thus limiting the dehydration of the dermis and the weakening of the skin barrier.
