Inspired by the traditional Huang Lian Gao formula, this macerate is prepared according to the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is traditionally used to soothe sensations of local heat, support sensitive or reactive skin, and promote a more balanced skin environment.
This preparation is known for its clarifying and soothing properties. It helps refresh the skin, reduce sensations of overheating, support local decongestion and accompany the skin’s natural regeneration processes.

Directions for use
Local application 1 to 2 times daily.

Composition:
- Huang Bai (Phellodendron) - drains Damp-Heat, clears Fire.
- Huang Lian (Coptis) - strongly clears Heat and toxicity.
- Jiang Huang (Curcuma longa) - activates Blood, moves Qi.
- Dang Gui (Angelica sinensis) - nourishes and harmonizes Blood, soothes discomfort.
- Sheng Di Huang (Raw Rehmannia) - cools the Blood, nourishes Yin and body fluids.
Base ingredients (for finely ground herbs):
Sesame oil : 500 ml
Yellow wax (beeswax) : 180 g
Preparation method (balm / ointment):
1. Place the herbs into 500 ml of sesame oil.
2. Heat gently (double boiler or low oven) for approximately 2 hours, until a golden yellow oil is obtained.
3. Filter carefully.
4. Add the beeswax and melt gently.
5. Pour into containers and allow to cool.
Other preparation options:
- OPTION 1 - Traditional macerate (1 to 6 months)
The herbs are macerated in sesame oil for several months. After 1 month, the macerate may already be used. This method allows deep extraction of the active compounds and an interesting energetic maturation for chronic or sensitive applications.
Directions for use :
Apply the macerate locally as an ointment or liniment to the affected area after cleansing the skin, or apply to a gauze compress placed on the desired area.
3 to 5 times daily as needed.
- OPTION 2 - Accelerated extraction (double boiler)
The herbs are heated in oil using a double boiler, then beeswax is added to obtain an ointment. Effective extraction, although less profound than a long maceration.
Directions for use :
Apply directly to the skin surface after cleansing, or apply onto gauze and place over the desired area.
3 to 5 times daily on the targeted area.
- OPTION 3 - Poultice
In the absence of open wounds, a poultice may be prepared. It is recommended to infuse the herbs for 2 to 3 minutes using a double boiler, then allow to cool before application to optimize the release of active compounds.
Directions for use :
Apply the poultice to the concerned area, secure with gauze or a clean cloth, then remove after 15 to 30 minutes.
Repeat 1 to 2 times daily depending on the condition of the area.
Precautions for use:
For external use only. Do not apply to open wounds, mucous membranes or around the eyes. Do not use in children under 7 years old. Store at room temperature away from light and heat. Wash hands thoroughly after application.
Discontinue use in case of irritation, itching or redness. Keep out of reach of children.
