Contraindications:
Deficiency and Cold with diarrhea.
People suffering from diarrhea with Cold presence
People with eczema or skin eruptions due to external Wind attack with incomplete expression.
Postpartum in those with Blood stasis or ongoing bleeding.
Do not use in high doses or for prolonged periods in people with liver disorders.
Use caution with sedatives as this herb has a sedative and analgesic effect on the central nervous system. It may cause drowsiness, so be cautious when driving or operating heavy machinery.
Use caution with anticoagulants such as heparin, warfarin (Coumadin), and enoxaparin (Lovenox) or antiplatelet drugs such as aspirin, dipyridamole (Persantine), and clopidogrel (Plavix).
Use caution with insulin, sulfonylureas, and other antidiabetics as a synergistic effect may occur leading to hypoglycemia.
Recommended dosage:
5 to 30g in decoction per day.
Usage:
Boil for 15 minutes.
